I was interviewed for a recent episode of BBC fast:track regarding hotel loyalty programs, along with a few industry people. If you’re interested, you can find the interview here .  Read More →

It’s no secret the country that brought us Heidi Klum, Christoph Waltz, and an odd obsession with David Hasselhoff has given the world it’s fair share of great automobiles. Much like… Read the full post at Gear Patrol.  Read More →

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5yWa-iVu00 Is there anything that can really be said? Well yeah, I guess there is: granny needs to get back on her meds. I think she may very well be related to the seatmate from hell I had last year . I’d enjoy having her as a seatmate if I were in a good mood. Would be possible to have quite a bit of fun with her (fun for me, not for her)….  Read More →

We know what you’re thinking. Mazda MX-5 Miata. Ummm? This is Gear Patrol, right? Since when do they review cars my sister would want? Where are the chainsaws, soft shells, and golf… Read the full post at Gear Patrol.  Read More →

I posted earlier in the week about Tom Stucker, a United Global Services member that flew about 700,000 miles this year, essentially making him a Ryan Bingham times two. There’s now also a Fox News interview with him online, which is worth watching. A few thoughts (and this is all on the “reporting” side): More power to the PR departments of airlines, but the whole “secret frequent flyer club that never flies coach”...

Check out this monologue by Craig Ferguson regarding his recent “bump” from a Continental flight. Actually very funny, although one important detail is missing — what was the compensation?!? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEHAQHxhQds (Tip of the hat to Mike )  Read More →

There are few things men take more seriously than their Christmas light displays. That list includes at least two things: Guitar Hero (or Rockband) and drinking. What would happen if someone combined all three? Fortunately Visit Cool Material for the full post.  Read More →

Other than the inconsistency between the outside of the plane (is that British Airways?) and the interior (United), this is actually pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ecsrj86pzV8 Best part has to be that it’s always the opposite in my experience. I’ve seen a flight attendant humiliate a passenger that wanted to be reseated in front of the whole cabin (by explaining over the PA that we were losing our take-off slot because...

Check out this PBS behind the scenes video of the SFO Gate Gourmet facility. Last year some of us had a chance to tour an airline catering facility, which I found to be a fascinating experience. If you didn’t have a chance to take the tour, this is the next best thing. Since I’ve taken the tour I have a new appreciation for airline catering and how much preparation and coordination goes into it.  Read More →

Check out this interview with Jason Reitman, director of ”Up in the Air.” It’s very interesting to hear his perspective on things, and especially how we “chase” material things that ultimately don’t matter. To a certain extent he’s right and I won’t even try to defend myself. That being said, he seems to be a mileage runner, even if he doesn’t realize it. At 5:20 he talks about his end of...

Looks like I missed these two “Up in the Air” trailers which were just posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBW0HTK9JsM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8PzXunoxZg The first one is especially brilliant. (Tip of the hat to Alex)  Read More →

I’ve posted in the past about a new CW “reality” show, “Fly Girls,” which revolves around the lives of some Virgin America flight attendants, describing their careers as glamorous and exotic (yeah, an eight hour overnight in Seattle sounds really glamorous and exotic). Well, check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8bKXHBdi_U Um I’ll refrain from really commenting, but are the lyrics to the song...
