As many of you may remember, SkyMall had a two day promotion earlier in the month offering 25,000 Delta SkyMiles for a $500+ purchase (before tax and shipping) on select items. Well, that offer has now been extended through September 15 . Of course there’s a reason they offer such a lucrative bonus — almost everything in the magazine is absolute crap. But then again, if you just can’t resist something in the catalog, this would...

Through the end of the year, Sun Trust is offering 25,000 SkyMiles for a business debit card and 15,000 miles for a personal debit card. Each comes with a $55 annual fee. As far as I can tell, this deal is even easier than the one with Chase, as only a single qualifying purchase is required, and you just need to keep your card open until the bonus posts. Fortunately I have a Sun Trust branch about three feet from my house, so I’ll be heading...

Today only, SkyMall is offering 25,000 Delta SkyMiles for making a purchase of $500 or more on select products (excluding tax and delivery). While most of the stuff in there is crap, maybe there’s something that can be resold for $350+, which would probably make this worthwhile?  Read More →

According to this FlyerTalk thread , Delta has been testing a program at JFK for their Diamond Medallion members (those that earn 125,000+ elite qualifying miles/year) for a while now. Basically, they’re offering a “meet and greet” service for Diamonds upon arrival from international destinations. They “fast track” you through immigration and then all the way to your connecting flight. Apparently they’ve been...

Lots of airlines are doing a good job taking care of their customers on Twitter, but I’m pretty sure Delta takes the cake with this one : (Tip of the hat to @wchrisburcham )  Read More →

I know this is fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but I’m kind of excited about this. Delta has announced service to Iceland starting next June, operated once daily out of JFK with 757s. The schedule for the flights will be as follows: Delta 52 JFK-KEF departing 11:35PM arriving 9:20AM+1 Delta 51 KEF-JFK departing 10:50AM and arriving 12:55PM Why am…  Read More →

Check out this NBC Los Angeles article. A 51 year old lady was kicked off a Delta flight after having a brief conversation with the captain, and smelling alcohol in his breath (which a couple of others noticed as well, apparently). She reported this to the purser (not sure what the point of that is, since the purser is powerless in this circumstance), and the purser reported it to the pilots. After a “manager” came aboard and they...

For today only, Groupon is once again offering Delta Sky Club passes for $22 for the Raleigh market (though anyone can get them). If you don’t already have access to the Sky Club, this is quite a good deal for a long layover, even if you’re flying another airline. (Tip of the hat to Frugal Travel Guy )  Read More →

I realize I’m a bit late to the game here, so my apologies, but I figured this was worth a mention nonetheless. American, Delta, and United, are all offering triple elite qualifying miles and triple redeemable miles on select routes. American is offering triple miles between New York LGA and Chicago as well as New York LGA and Boston for flights purchased and flown between June 14 August 31. Delta is offering triple miles on all their Shuttle...

Delta has eliminated some fees on award tickets (and increased other fees). The good news is that they’re no longer charging fees on award tickets, including the close-in ticketing fees. Furthermore, in the past Delta Platinum members received two award redeposit/reissue fee waivers, which has now been lifted to allow an unlimited number of changes for free. The only bad news is that the reissue and redeposit fees have been increased to $150...

American Express Airlines Delta is offering a 100% bonus on miles purchased using the Delta SkyMiles American Express credit card through June 30. That brings the cost per mile down to 1.4 cents. Also keep in mind that you can purchase a maximum of 60,000 SkyMiles per year. Don’t get me wrong, this is far from a deal, but for those looking to top off accounts, this is hard to beat at the moment. I know many are  Read More →

Starting June 1, those with Delta SkyMiles American Express credit cards can check their first bag for free on all Delta flights. This applies to the cardmember and up to nine (!!!) people traveling on the same reservation. Smart move, of course. At the end of the day the credit card companies are running the airline, and this is a valuable benefit.  Read More →

The relationship between Singapore Airlines and Delta is ending on May 15, which means you’ll no longer be able to burn Delta miles for trips on Singapore Airlines (I have a feeling there’s not a whole lot of action in the other direction). Now, SkyMiles are generally among the most worthless mileage currencies and Singapore is the only partner through which you can use your miles for international first class, so if you can swing a...
