If anyone happens to be in the Bay Area on Friday, January 8, I’ll be hosting a FlyerTalk dinner that evening. I’m still working on a time and location, but expect it to be somewhat late (7PM at the earliest) and in the city (as opposed to Burlingame, where I often host dinners).  Details can be found here . If you’re not a FlyerTalker feel free to shoot me an email if you’d like to join in on the fun.

Review: Sofitel San Francisco
I had to spend a night near San Francisco Airport this weekend because I attended Fleet Week on Sunday. I originally booked the Crowne Plaza SFO, which is adequate although has tiny rooms, but thanks to the recent Accor promotion I decided to try out the Sofitel in Redwood City . While it’s by no means a convenient airport hotel, it had...

Boeing 787 Flying over Seattle, WA What an amazing plane and an amazing city. I feel so lucky to live here! Notice the Space Needle in the bottom right of the photo. The Boeing 787 flight tests have been going great. Guy Norris with Aviation Week has a great write up with the details you can check out. Found this picture from Randy’s Journal...
Free wifi on American through January 7
Through January 7, the code “UpintheAir” will get you free wifi on American. With the number of promos we’ve seen recently, I can’t help but think that wifi will be consistently free soon, and the airlines will make their money from sponsors. (Tip of the hat to Frugal Travel Guy )  Read More →

Join us for episode 37 of the Upgrd Podcast , as we discuss a bunch of random stuff. I apologize for not being there, because, as usual, Hunter makes a bunch of ridiculous statements. My favorite was easily that we should pay for a ticket for him to fly United in business class so he can try it out. Sheesh, I wish it worked that way. Hell, if...

Now that dinner is done….
Now that dinner is done….
I don’t usually post meal pictures from “normal” flights, but given that I’m at 38,000 feet and just finished dinner, why not? I have to say, I still love PS. Between the decent meal service, entertainment players, and now in-flight wifi, it’s an unbeatable way to fly domestically. The only thing I miss is the Westin...
