December 10th, 2009 admin

ZA001, taken during Aviation Geekfest. That’s right folks. According to Jon Ostrower with Flight Blogger , Boeing OFFICIALLY announced the first flight of the long anticipated Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be taking to the air on December 15th at 10am (as long as the weather participates). I feel very lucky and privileged that I will be there during the first flight and I will, of course, be covering it via Twitter, pictures and video. Don’t worry, if you have a few extra bucks laying around you get be there too. UPDATE: 8:09PST: Boeing is officially announcing it on their main page and their NewAirplane.com site. follow via | web | twitter | email | rss | Image: ImperfectSense

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner has been flying for quite some time now and Boeing is excited to have finalized the configuration for the Boeing 787-9. The 787-8 is 20 feel longer, which might seem easy, but takes a lot of additional changes. To learn more, check out the video and Boeing’s website . Thanks Chris S!

What a day! I arrived at the Future of Flight at about 9am to get ready for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner ZA005 to take flight. The weather wasn’t doing so great with mist, fog, and a low ceiling. There was no official time, but I was guessing 10am based on previous first flights. I thought the plan would be for ZA005 to complete high-speed taxi...

Boeing 787 ZA005 completed low-speed taxi test at Paine Field (KPAE) earlier today. Still from Future of Flight Video Today, the fifth Boeing 787 Dreamliner (ZA005) had a successful taxi test and Sandy with the Future of Flight got some great video and the Everett Herald posted a nice photo . Tomorrow ZA005 is still on schedule to take off for...

From Bernard Choi on Boeing’s Farnborough’s website : “The 787 Dreamliner poked through the clouds outside London just before 9 am on Sunday. Instead of landing though, the all-new jet flew by and wagged its wings, the aviation equivalent of ‘how do you do.’ With cameras and cell phones pointed skyward for more, Captains...

If you follow aviation or airlines, you probably heard about the Boeing 787 Dreamliner going to the Farnborough air show recently. It going was awesome, but it leaving was pretty cool too. Not the fact that it left, but how it left…being escorted by two Spitfires.

Yes, I know, this is the fourth Boeing 747 post in a row. What can I say? Interesting things are happening with the Boeing 747…it is one amazing plane. Today, Boeing posted a new video showing the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental being made, talks a bit about the plane and you even get to meet some of the workers. Definitely worth a watch!...

Up early this morning to get all prepared (ie get like 10 gadgets charged) for Boeing’s fifth 787 Dreamliner (but first with GEnx engines) to take flight. In about an hour, I will be heading over to the Future of Flight to get set up. ZA005 is scheduled to take off at 10am PST, but it could be delayed due to weather, low cielings, technical...

It just looks so easy. This video shows the making of a British Airways Boeing 777-300ER from first parts to first flight. This video is one of the best time-lapse one I have seen with stellar music and an amazing plane staring!
